Why Might DOKKA Feel Slow?
DOKKA runs in the cloud, which means the system is hosted on secure remote servers while you access it from your computer. Like with any cloud-based software, there can occasionally be moments where things feel slower than expected.
Our team constantly monitors performance and reviews every report we receive. In most cases, the issue can be resolved quickly with a few simple checks. Below are the most common reasons for slowness, along with steps you can take to improve performance.
Common Reasons for Slowness
1. Device limitations
While DOKKA doesn’t require much processing power, older machines or computers overloaded with open programs may cause delays.
Tip: Close apps you don’t need, restart your computer periodically, or work on a device with stronger hardware.
2. Internet connection issues
Since DOKKA relies on real-time communication with our servers, a weak or unstable internet connection can slow things down.
Tip: Use a wired connection when possible, run a speed test (we recommend 100 Mbps or higher), and avoid streaming or downloading heavy files while using DOKKA.
3. Network restrictions
Corporate firewalls or proxies sometimes block domains that DOKKA needs in order to function properly. This can result in errors or delays.
Tip: Share our list of required domains with your IT department to make sure access is allowed.
4. Large account index
If your accounting software contains thousands of old or unused accounts, DOKKA may take longer to load documents while pulling in relevant data.
Tip: Archive or delete inactive accounts so your system stays clean and efficient.
5. Heavy scans
Uploading very high-resolution or full-color scans can slow down processing.
Tip: Stick to 300 dpi, black-and-white scans for the best balance of clarity and speed.
6. System requirements
For smooth performance, we recommend:
8GB of RAM or more
A quad-core processor
Fast, stable internet (100 Mbps or higher)
Running DOKKA outside of a terminal server where possible
Extra Ways to Improve Speed
Keep your browser up to date.
Clear your cache and cookies regularly.
Use Chrome or Edge for the best performance.
If you’re on a busy office network, ask IT to prioritize DOKKA traffic.
